The lazy days of Koh Lanta

February 4, 2015

After temple-hopping and jungle-zipping it was time for sea and sand! Our trip from Chiang Mai to Koh Lanta involved a plane, bus, boat and tuk-tuk ride until we arrived at our hotel. But no need to worry, there was plenty of time to recover from the strenuous journey: Contrary to its much busier neighbour Phuket, the beaches weren’t as commercialized and still kept a hippie vibe, although the local population is mainly Muslim. Apart from that, there wasn’t much to do on the island, but that was exactly we were looking for! And we actually found more: A little bamboo shack on the road named “Shanti Shanti” served amazing crepes and burgers and the soft, golden sand made Khlong Nin Beach ideal for a swim.

The shelter is completely run by volunteers and depending on donations, so you can do something good buying some souvenirs there. The evenings are best spent at one of the beach side restaurants as Koh Lanta has some of the best sunset views!

It seemed like you enjoyed your stay in Koh Lanta. So happy to see other people also decide to stay lazy like me on this island.
    Safe travels!

It’s a peaceful, not over-hyped island yet, so that was nice. Safe travels to you too!

[…] Well my year begins where it has ended: Currently I’m in Thailand and that’s where 2015 started for me too. Actually I slept through NYE 2014/15 because we had to catch an early morning flight from Chiang Mai to Krabi (and we were totally tired out by the zip-lining in the jungle). But the stressful journey totally was worth the laid-back vibe of Koh Lanta.
