What I really like about NYC is the fact that you can walk a few blocks and feel like being in an entirely different country. The huge Chinese community gathers in different “Chinatowns”, the one in Manhattan being the most famous. But if you want to get away from the tourists, there is another Chinatown in Brooklyn in the neighbourhood of Sunset Park. You won’t find any tacky souvenir shops or commercialized brands like Starbucks there, but lots of bustling streets, gigantic markets and cheap eats. The supermarket and food court of Fei Long Market take you straight to a mall which could be also in Shanghai or Hong Kong. It’s the perfect spot to grab some authentic Chinese food and watch people. A great insight into local life!
