Hello, sunshine (state)!

Everglads airboat tour

After some days of acclimatisation in NYC I was very much looking forward to the beach, which was planned for a week in Florida. It only took two and a half hours from the grey skies of New York to tropical Fort Lauderdale. Fortunately the Sunshine State lived up to its name and I got my full share of sun and sand. The first two days we stayed at Hollywood Beach – a beautiful stretch of white sand with palm trees and not too many people. While we cycled along the boardwalk, we even found wonderful empty spots on the beach. Food was great too, we enjoyed BBQ, Tacos and Peruvian. The biggest variety you’ll find at the Hollywood Arts Park on Mondays, where at least 20 food trucks from Miami are lined up in the park. It’s really hard to decide!

A visit to Florida would be incomplete without a tour in the Everglades – a gigantic swamp and home of hundreds of thousands of alligators. Airboat rides are the big thing there, although they were very loud, they smoothly floated over the water and we enjoyed the breeze on that very sunny and hot day. The alligators didn’t seem to be afraid of the boats, neither were the birds, which were cheekily waiting to be fed. A nice trip into nature!

Die Everglades sind einfach gigantisch; allein deswegen lohnt sich ein Besuch in Florida. Deine Bilder sind wunderbar 🙂
