My travel bug was bitting me hard after more than two months not leaving Vienna (almost felt like cabin fever) and I was very much looking forward to a little Easter weekend getaway with my bf 🙂 Having so many great options without necessarily boarding a plane, we picked Budapest for a beautiful yet affordable city experience. My last visit has been at least 5 years ago, so I was able to refresh my memories. Btw I’m excited to announce my first giveaway on my blog – more details you’ll find below after a little photo tour of our trip 😉
I was very happy to meet a friend I haven’t seen for many many years. Thanks Zsuzsi for the little intro into the world of Palinka 😉
The illuminated Buda Castle and Széchenyi Bridge unfolds one of the most beautiful river-city views ❤️
The metro line 1 is one of Europe’s oldest subways and a UNESCO heritage site. Have a look at one of the classy stations and you’ll know why.
From riding a subway in style to bathing in style: Feel like a king or queen (among a few others) in the beautiful thermal bath of Széchenyi. You’ll never want to get out of the hot water…
Not a secret, but going up the Buda Hill and enjoying the view from the Fisherman’s Bastion is still one of the best things to do in Budapest!
Although the weather was pretty changeable there was some evidence of spring…
The parliament building isn’t only impressive from the outside but the interior can definitely keep up with the grand, posh style. Poor politicians, under what bad conditions they must work 😛
