Cherry Blossom in Vienna

Cherry blossom Vienna

Although April has lived up with its image being a very changeable month weather-wise, you can’t deny that spring has arrived after all. Before I’m showing you my two favourite spots to watch spring in its full bloom, I’m taking you to a little staycation my bf and I had while he was visiting Vienna. Because I don’t wanna hide those views from you 😉

Staycation at the Suite Hotel am Kahlenberg

It might be a strange idea to stay in a hotel in the city where you live and won’t come to everyone’s mind. But I really like the concept of staycation the more I think about it. In that particular case there were two reasons, which led me to the final decision to try it out: I found this hotel through one of those online deal sites and especially the hotel’s location caught my attention: The suite hotel Kahlenberg lies on one of highest mountains (well let’s say hill) of Vienna and therefore offers some of the finest views of the city – straight from your room or the magnificent terrace!

Kahlenberg9 At night the city turns into a sparkling sea of lights, which was even visible from the bed. There couldn’t be any better way to fall asleep…

Spring fever in the city

No park, no garden and no green space – no matter how small it was – was spared from the amazing bloom that has spread explosively the last weeks… If you can’t get enough of flowers and blossoms have a look at the blog carnival initiated by Paleica 🙂 Especially the cherry blossom was every ‘grammers favourite, and while you can find it all over the city – there were two places that everyone seemed going to: 1) The Setagayapark, a Japanese garden and…

How was your start into spring?

I think these could be some of the most beautiful photographs I have seen in a very long time Julia. What a lovely hotel with great views, but those photographs of the blossoms and flowers (and ducks) are stunning. Thankyou for sharing.

I really enjoy staycations, they can be a lot of fun and you gain a new perspective of your own city! That hotel looks really nice and I’m loving all your photos of the cherry blossoms! We are still waiting for ours to bloom here. Have a nice weekend 🙂

Thank you Eden, oh – the cherry blossom in Canada must be so beautiful too!

The view from the hotel is stunning! What a beautiful place to wake up. I also love staycations, but recently, I feel like I’m living in a suitcase, so when I’m home in Dubai, I just want to stay in our flat:) So pretty with all the flowers in the parks and on the streets. For a moment I thought the photos were from Japan:)

I can totally understand that. Especially when you’re on the move so much, it’s nice to sleep in your own bed 🙂

Tolle Fotos!

Lovely pictures. Thank you Julia. I understand Spring was late in Europe, but the blooming more than compensated. “Staycation”? Interesting concept.
    Auf wiedersehen.
(Not quite sure about the spelling, hehe!)

You spelled it right 😉 Thank you, I couldn’t stop taking photos of all the blossoms!

I understand perfectly. Living in the tropics one loses track of time. Here the trees almost never lose their leaves. So one is spared the “drabness” of winter, but also one misses the explosion of Spring. I kinda miss it. So thanx for sharing those blooms.

Really stunning photos! I love cherry blossoms so much; it’s a shame they disappear so quickly.

That’s true, you gotta be really fast to capture them…
