About

I’m an adventurer, looking for treasure

The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho (edited)

Who am I?

I’m a fairly ordinary woman in her late twenties early thirties who still doesn’t know what to do with her life. I studied Geography and worked in different jobs but my career path leads to an unknown direction. I recently moved from Vienna – my beloved hometown – to New York City, to be with my fiance husband.

What I do know is that I like to travel and I always did. I grew up between two cultures and home always has been a very elastic term to me. Since I’ve traveled the world in 2013/2014, the travel bug has bitten me even harder and you’ll pretty much find me anywhere: From big cities to the mountains and beaches of this beautiful planet.

Why this blog?

I started blogging during my travels in 2013 here, only to keep my friends and family up-to-date. My interest in blogging grew as I noticed there are so many inspiring and like-minded people out there. 2014 sweet/escapes came to life and I’m extremely grateful for the small but faithful community I met through this site. And I’m happy you’re here now too 🙂

There are millions of (travel) blogs out there, so how does mine stand out? It doesn’t. I believe there can’t be enough blogs because everyone has a voice. Everyone has a story to tell. And in this digital world it’s a blessing that we can share them.

My aim

I wanna use this space as a platform for inspiration and interaction. I know not everyone has the privilege to travel (so much), so I hope there’s a little “sweet escape” for all of you while you’re here. It’s not about how far you travel but being aware of your surroundings and discovering the uniqueness in your hometown or home country.

I’m blogging only for fun and don’t make a living of it. In fact, it’s important to me that this site is mostly free of any sponsored content or ads. You may find a collaboration or affiliate link here and there but these always represent companies I’m 100% happy with.

Are you here for the first time? Browse my travel map and find some inspiration and useful tips!

Nice one Julia! Looking for tacos… yum!
But I got hit with the last paragraph about ads! Hahaha. I have been using adsense lately.

    • Reply sileas February 16, 2018 at 5:19 am

Haha I don’t blame you… I used adsense for a couple of months too and figured out it doesn’t work for me… I hope you’re doing better with it 😉

      • Reply PinaySkattebasse February 16, 2018 at 1:10 pm

Did work for you? In what way? Curious. It’s funny, for me it’s fun looking at ads rather than lookinf forward to earning out of it. 😅 But my husband tells me not to place ads as it scares readers… hmm

        • Reply sileas March 5, 2018 at 3:42 pm

I think it’s fine to place ads as long as they aren’t overwhelming. But my page views aren’t that high (yet) that it felt worth it….

          • PinaySkattebasse March 7, 2018 at 4:11 am

Yeah, same issue. Jan has always been against
            it. 😅
