Nothing touches us like the untouched…

Nationalpark Gesäuse

… is the motto of Nationalparks Austria and recently I got the chance to visit one of them, in cooperation with Instagramers Austria (a loose community of hobby photographers who gather through Instagram and Facebook groups). The national park Gesäuse in the Styrian alps is dominated by lots of water, rugged mountains, natural forests but also cozy mountain huts with traditional delicacies. And although the weather has been rather on the gloomy side we enjoyed an interesting guided tour and great hospitality! Which national park would you like…

Through the Bluntau Valley

October 30, 2015

Do you sometimes feel the urge to escape the city to finally breathe fresh air and hear nothing else than the flowing of the river? Especially after the hustle-and-bustle in Berlin and Vienna, the calm and green countryside was more than welcome to us. So to charge our batteries, we visited Salzburg for a couple of days and after some research I also found the Bluntautal (Bluntau Valley) near the village of Golling.…

The perfect alpine getaway in Leogang

October 2, 2015

Beginning of September we had our annual strategic meeting of our company. Anyway, Vienna was unbearable and I felt lucky that I could join my friends on that trip, especially because I like the Salzkammergut so much. The scenery enchants me every time I get there.…

The (temporary) magic of the Emerald Lake

Guide to Emerald Lake Austria

I think I’ve traveled much and seen quite a few places. And of all places I’ve been to, one has a special place in my heart – and what irony – it’s only a two hour drive away from my hometown 🙂 Welcome to Tragöß, a sleepy village somewhere in the alps of Styria! This village hosts a treasure in the back country, which is simply called “Grüner See” (literally “Emerald lake”). The name says it all. About two years ago, when I…

Up the Rax mountain – hiking the alps near Vienna

June 9, 2015
Hiking near Vienna

It’s finally summer and outdoor season has fully kicked off! Being in the city doesn’t mean that there aren’t countless options for day trips into nature, where you get your share of clean air, forests and mountains. An hour drive out of town you’ll find plenty of hiking trails with amazing alpine sceneries, like the “Rax” – one of Vienna’s closest mountains.  1. Getting up the mountain While avid hikers may prefer to hike up on their own feet, the Rax cable car takes you up to…
