Featured New York City

When the city that never sleeps, sleeps

July 8, 2020

It looks like a scene from an apocalyptic movie but it’s been the grim reality for almost 3 months: Wiped out streets and subway stations, boarded up stores and restaurants and an eerie quietness at some of the city’s most crowded places like 5th Avenue, Times Square and the Brooklyn Bridge.

The Coronavirus pandemic is a worldwide phenomenon but seeing a bustling metropolis like New York City as a ghost town is something that I’ll probably never forget. Here are some of the moments of our limited trips outside our apartment.

Wow Julia these photos are incredible – firstly so sad that NYC is empty but I must say you have captured the current situation so well. I see the naked cowboy (well still has underpants) is still working at Times Square – ha ha good on him.

Thanks Sue, it’s been quite a roller coaster! We’re still hoping we can avoid a second lockdown.

wow! Although it looks really weird from how I imagine NY, it still is a stunning city despite the almost empty roads! And the Brooklyn bridge so beautiful. I cannot wait to go back again soon with my entire family. 🙂

A fantastic account of NY ghost town. (Is the naked cowoy still around? He must be pushing 70 now!) 🤣
Hope all is well with you.
